tara peckham is an artist working in multiple mediums, navigating the balance between the self and the other. tara’s work is greatly informed by their cultural background. growing up in indonesia to an american father and indian mother, tara was exposed to a vast array of cultural and environmental landscapes that all find their way into the artist’s work. this complex cultural identity has also deeply informed the fluidity with which tara moves through life. in blending reality and fantasy, structure and play, sensuality and intimacy, sensory memories and dreams, their work becomes an act of self analysis and meditation. looking for and discovering junctures where contradictions exist in unison, she depicts the moments where he does not exist in opposition to anything.
